Ok, trying to do my pan gasket and the cooler lines are a PITA. Now I'm just going to get rid of this cooler. I have the lines detached from the adapter, but I can't figure out how to get the stupid adapter off!

If I just remove the cooler lines for now would it cause a problem leaving the adapter on? As in if I run the engine with the cooler bypassed, nothing will leak out the holes where the hoses once ran will it?

maybe its not called the adapter, idk. But regardless I can't get the damn thing off...lines are unbolted, but I cant get it to budge and can't find any other bolts holding it up there.

Isn't it help onto by the center tube? Look closely, I think there is a nut on the tube as well......

When you have the oil filter off look at the ( adapter ) the tube that the filter spins on holds the ( adapter ) on the engine block it will have a nut up in there around the tube. The tube and the nut are one peace

I was looking at that closely, but it barely protrudes out from the bulk of the piece so wasn't sure if that would be possible to get a socket on there or not. I'll try that.

When I get that piece off there is nothing else to do correct? I've done searches on the forum, and I believe my '94 already comes with an adapter installed which will work. Once I take off the cooler I can just cut the top section of the original bolts off so they fit or just buy new bolts. My filter should just screw into place with no new parts needed.

I've also seen a lot about a certain bypass hose for this, is it a specific piece of will any hose work as long as diameter is correct?

Got it off and now I can see what everyone was talking about. Still wondering about that bypass hose, can I just get any hose of same diameter or do I need the specific piece?
