Was wondering if anyone has blown the o-ring out of there oil filter,my oil pressure dropped to 10 psi before i could shut it down and the damage was done. Will be rebuilding motor in march, didnt find out this had happened until i got underneath car to take motor out(pulling due to knock,it was very quick and took out crank in two places)yes ,car has oil cooler on it,no it didnt have anything in it.

Re: oil filter
Sounds like an issue with the oil pump. Perhaps the pressure relief valve was stuck closed. It's a strange issue for sure but not entirely unheard of.
What I do find strange is that even if you lost ALL oil pressure (not just down to 10psi) it would take a good amount of running to destroy the bearings.
I also am not too sure about how losing oil pressure at 10psi and then shutting it down could instantly snap the crank in two places.

Re: oil filter
crank didnt break, just wore down so bad it wasnt possible to repair. The crank was a stock gm. The very first and very last journals were ground down, maybe a problem that was there already?...just seems odd that no other journals were damaged....And i thought it was quick also.
