Oil leak under the timing chain cover....

Got a small oil leak in the front of the oil pan right under the timing chain cover. Again its a small leak.

I checked the two front bolts, they are tight.

Any ideas for fixing this without having to replace the oil pan gasket?
Can I pack some grey RTV on it?

You could try some RTV for a temporary fix.

Clean it off really well with brake cleaner and then rtv it up. There's no pressure on it so if you get it to seal, it will last a while like the above post says. I did it that way after the cam install 2 yrs ago. It's still holding.

Or even a semi-permanent fix, mine held up for 3 years

Re: Oil leak under the timing chain cover....

Looks like I have the same issue... I just had a cam install done, and now I see a leak starting at the bottom of the timing chain cover....

Is it true to just clean it really good, then RTV it?

I'd appreciate any input!
Thanks!

Are you sure it's the oil pan that's leaking? The waterpump drive seal is a common leak and it druels down the front of the timing chain cover.
