Okay I have a 96 LT1 350 that recently developed an oil leak in the rear of the intake manifold. That's fine and all, not too big of a deal I'll just get it fixed later....I still haven't gotten around to fixing it due to certain issues but, anyway...My new problem is that I cannot read the oil level anymore....I'm obviously losing oil but after sitting in the driveway for a week or so the oil dipstick is covered in oil a 1/4 of the way up...so according to this I'm gaining oil? I don't think so....It's been like that ever since the leak was apparent
and even though it hasn't been running the oil has become decidedly darker
since the leak started....It was still amberish when it started but is now almost completely black........Any ideas?
I am going to drain the oil this weekend so I can at least be sure how much I have left as I have no other way of knowing....
Could the problem be a clogged oil filter or something of the like?
Any help is appreciated and time isn't really an issue as I have a spare car to drive....Also as far as I can tell the few feet I have moved it to the garage it ran mysteriously well, frighteningly so even...
