Oil smell under high acceleration??
Alright, I just dropped a new 357 in my car and right now it has about 3000 miles on it. When I start to get to speeds over about 90 or so and higher RPM's I can smell what appears to be an oil smell. Its not like a burn oil smell but more of an unburnt oil smell. I dont have any oil leaks and I dont recall ever seeing me burning oil out my exhuast. Anyone have any ideas???

I get an oil smell too. From what I've figured, it's a TINY dribble from the rear main seal and is slung around and you end up smelling it in the cabin. No harm, no foul, just a little oil smell.

I dont appear to have a leak. At least I know there isnt any dripping onto the ground. It usually only happens if I race someone to a high speed, like say over 100mph, then after the race I smell it for just a minute and then its all back to normal.

Have you done amy mods to the PVC or Crankcase breather system? Like a filter on the pass valve cover instead of plumbed to the throttlebody? Just a thought and that could certainly account for some oil smell.

I would have to wonder if maybe you're getting blowby past the new rings.
I mean; the smell of oil under acceleration strongly implies that you're pressurizing the crankcase and the gasses are finding their way out; dragging an oil mist with them.

I dont have a cat so i usually just get the no-cat smell out of the exhuast. I dont think it really makes a differance whether the fan is on or not.
