The Oiling Hole in a Lifter, Question ???

The hole in the side of the lifters, where you would prime it with oil, I noticed something when I pulled my lifters out.

The stock lifters were installed with some lifters having this oiling hole on the LEFT side, and others on the RIGHT side. No apparent pattern to it either?

Does this matter which side the lifter oil hole is on? I didnt think it mattered, and just replaced them back in the same bores, facing the same directions, but still, its something that Ive thought about

I face them to the rear or the inside(depending on where the hole is drilled on the lifter), but it doesn't really matter
