Is it ok for my cooling fan to be on all times?
I had alot of problems with my engine's temperature, so I fixed my thermostat cos it was damaged....Now couple of other z28 owners told me to remove or disable the automatic cooling fan switch, and make it work all the time, while the engine is on.....
Now the car's engine temperature is less than 80 degrees celcius which is really good compared from the past.
I get the "Check engine" light on, all the time, and they did tell me that will happen, but is there anything wrong from doing what I did??
Thanks

sounds like you're bandaging a wound with duct tape!
you're better off figuring out what is causing the overheating problem.
the fans could stay on all the time, may affect your warm up time, your charging and it will wear out the fan motors for when you really need them!
i would say just spend the cash (or do the home-made one) manual fan switch. that way you can turn your fan on when stuck in traffic or anytime your temp is rising fast. but the fans will still work according to ecm programing

IMO, I think it is a bad idea. Better to get a fan switch or reprogramming to keep your car cool. If you have to run them all the time, you are only masking a problem that needs attention.
With the SES on all the time, you will never know if you have another problem that lights the SES.
The pcm turns the fans off when you are on the highway, as they are not needed and may actually impede air flow. The life expectancy of the fans will also be shortened.
Not too many pluses for wiring them on all the time.
