okay need some valvetrain help (buying)
Okay since my oil pump drive broke im swaping in the following
Moroso Pump
New GM oil pump drive
new LT4 gaskets (intake ported to lt4) and pan gaskets
Now for my valvetrain
Currently i have the LT4 hotcam kit.
1.6rrs
hardened rods
I want to swap in the following will these springs work??
Patriot gold kit
https://www.patriot-performance.com/...&cat=52&page=2
And for the cam I think im gonna go with the
Comp XFI 280
# "XFI" 280 Hydraulic Roller CamshaftChevy 262-400ci 1955-98
Lift: .576"/.570" w/1.6 Rockers
Duration: 280°/288°
RPM Range: 2000-6000
Think this would all work decent together...I have ported heads, intake, 52mm tb, 30#s 1 5/8 headers etc.

If you go with the XFI 280, which I think is too much cam unless your actual stall
is in the 3200-3500 range, you should find out what springs Comp recommends.
I would stay in the CC503/GM846 range. If you had 4.10s and more stall the XFI280
would be a better fit.

I have a midwest 3000 stall, built tranny (which needs to be built again) Im having a strange issue 3rd gear WOT at 5500 rpms the car just slips like as if i thru it in neutral (which broke my oil pump drive).
Also I just installed a Moser 12 bolt with 3.73s.

Hopefully you will get some additional replies but I would say the CC503 is a better
fit with the 3k converter and 3.73s. I'm not one for kits like your link shows
since I like to know who is making the parts. I'd go Crane before Comp with the
valve springs, retainers and locks and I would also avoid Ti retainers unless
this is a race only car and you check things under the rocker covers every oil
change or so.
The Comp 987 and 985 springs and Crane 99893 and 96872 springs are all used
with good success, as are the beehives. Personally I prefer dual springs which is
why I switched from beehives to Crane 96872s recently.

I basically need to get springs retainers and locks for my stock ported heads. Thats why i was gonna go with a kit since i know it should all work.
And what would be the big difference going with Ti??
The car is a non daily driver. Basically I take it out satudays and sundays for some hard racing.

quickly. You just need to pull a retainer once in a while and look it over to see
if you have excessive wear. As long as you are OK with this extra effort to check
things they are better for performance.
The price on that kit was very reasonable so if you are not inclined to do some
research to find the parts combination it may be a good option. Once you decide
on the cam call the mfg and ask for their recommendation on springs, retainers,
locks, seats, etc.
