Opinions on my options needed

Ok, knowing I need a new shortblock, and knowing that I'm on an approximate $3000 budget, what can I possibly look at??

Heads and all the rest are fine. ALL I need is your basic short block. No timing stuff, no lifters, maybe not even the pan, depending on application I go with.

I'd go with a decent entry- level eagle forged 383 buildup for that price. CMotorsports sells the rotating assemblies for ~$1900

That's what I'm starting to look at. Besides the rotating assembly, what else would I need??? I've not had to go through this yet and hadn't really given it much thought until now.

Basically, if I purchase a separate rotating assembly, I need a list of everything else I would need to complete the shortblock. No timing stuff needed, no lifters or valvetrain stuff needed. Just a list to complete the shortblock.

Also, will a 3.750 crank clear a stock oil pan??

It should. Not positive though, the tray might need clearancing. You should go with a deep canton pan anyway. You'd need ~400-500 of blockwork done. The rotating assemblies come with bearings and rings. You'd also want splayed 4 bolt mains. Block would need a bath, clean, bore/hone .030 over, and then labor to install everything.

After some hussled research:

I found a fully forged 383 shortblock at Speed Inc. for $3499, and a forged rod/piston/stock crank 355 for $2799. I shot them an email on it, but thought I would get your opinion too. Linky These seem to be the BEST thing I've found so far. Edit: LS1 speed have a 4 week wait right now, which may work out good.

I also found the following:

Revolutionary Performance "Budget" 383

Golen Short Blocks Specifically speaking, the $3199 fully forged 383.

All of these seem to fit into my budget, some barely (read Speed Inc.). Actually, they all put me a bit over, but they're ready to go.

What else would I be needing to get rolling again??
