Opti failure.... wet...
Alright, heres the problem. I just got my car all back together from a rebuild, 355 with a few goodies, and I fired it up fine, ran good for a while.... I haven't driven it yet, but it has been started and idled a total of like 10 minutes probaly. Well, yesterday, after I started it and revved it a bit, to like 2k, it started leaking coolant up front somewhere. I haven't had time to tear it down to find where, but the coolant was running down the passengers side plug wires, so I am assuming the waterpump took a crap. (where is the weap hole??).. To get a better look at things, I pressurized the system and made it leak a lot, which I now realize was very bad. It killed the opti, tried to fire and it backfired and ran horrible!!! So, here's my question finally, when optis fail because of water, is it typically the cap and rotor, or the optical portion? I was thinking of throwing a MSD cap and rotor kit on it because the opti only has 40k about. Maybe even less really.
FYI its a 94 with the non-vented setup, is it possible to just put the vented cap on it?
Thanks for your help,
Ryan
