opti problem

Ok, so im pretty sure I know the opti is the problem im having. I just dont quite understand how its the problem. looking for some knowledge on the subject.

I had an issue last year where it was hit or miss when I went to start my 97 SS, pulled the engine out and replaced a bunch of tune up items, went to put the engine back in and figured id check the opti. seems the waterpump seal had leaked a bunch of oil into the opti causing the sensor to not read, replaced it with a chandler motorsports brand( I know I know) but after I got it all back together it started right up and ran great. but once it runs for 15-20 minutes it shuts off. I still get fuel pressure, but no spark to the plugs. I replaced the ICM, the coil, even the crank sensor, but still have the same issue. Only thing I can blame is the opti crap.

But what would cause the opti to shut down at 20 minutes everytime? cools off and starts back up.. I thought the icm would have fixed it but it didn't.

am I missing something, or is this a normal thing for the opti to run perfect and then light a switch being flipped its off? no sputtering, no rpm change, no change at all other than no spark.

getting ready to sell and want to make sure this problem is fixed before it goes

Re: opti problem

Anything electronic can fail at any time and especially after it heats up. What does a scan for trouble codes show? CMS opti? Maybe. That brand would not have been my first choice.

Re: opti problem

I don't have the ability to scan the car, it has an obd1 swap and I do not have the aldl cable I need to run a scan. looks like I may be buying a cable to figure out the problem. Im sure its most likely the opti. its got the warranty on it, so I can try another one. It was a cheap fix at the time just to get it running. I knew it was a gamble but for $135 bucks id try it. I had a Delphi on it before that. wanted to make sure my oil leak was fixed before I put a good brand opti on
