optispark testing
Anyone know how to test the optispark ? Did all the test in the hayes repair manual and it says the distributor or igntion module is bad. it says to take it to a dealer for repair. I'm working on a transplanted 94 lt1 into a 67 camaro .
no dealer in the country would touch it. Any help would be great .
Thanks , ayers1967.

With the opti out, hook it up [to wire harness] and [making sure that the BODY[aluminum housing part of opti] of it is touching GROUND, via engine block, or use a jumper] spin it by hand with ign ON and:
1] listen for injector 'ticks'
2] it should 'spark' also..
That's a basic test that I use and then when its installed before replacing WP etc I run it a few minutes..
Can it still be 'bad'? yup... but it still is a helpful basic test..
I know of no other way short of an oscilloscope, etc to really test it..
