Ordered my Pacesetter LT's!

I finally got the money together and ordered me a set of ceramic coated Pacesetter LTs with Y-pipe, a Thunder Racing OTVC wire kit, and many other accessories. Anyone got any advice on the header install? I did headers on my 69 GTO and I thought that was crammed, so I am sure I am in for a treat lol. But any help would be appreciated.

When the install starts to stress you out, just walk away and take a breather. Expect a little more time than you anticipate. That's the best advice you could get.

On the other hand, at least your not installing shorties. I would rather install long tubes over shorties any day.

Yeah it took me about 20 to 24 hours total to do my headers/full exhaust on my GTO. Also, with this y-pipe am I going to need to fabricate a hanger up somehow since my exhaust wont be hanging on my tranny anymore?

Take the valve covers off and the alternator. I dented in the primary for the last cyl on the drivers side (I think) to get it to slip right in without any fuss. The pass side was easier than the drivers side, I just removed the drivers side mount bolt and jacked that side of the motor up and the headers slipped right in.

You don't have to pull the valve covers off. Just take the alternator and dipstick off, and slide them up from underneath. Real easy if you get it high enough. You might want to pull a couple of the rear plugs for clearance, and I think some people pull the starter, but that wasn't even close to a problem for me. O2 ext. would be nice, but I just spliced the wires with the little kit that comes with the Pacesetters

I ordered the 02 extensions to make life easier. Thanks for the input. I am also putting new plugs/OTVC wires in while im at it. I figured do it once and do it right.

Buy a couple of cans of PB Blaster and spray down all the old hardware really well. That should make disassembly alot easier. Also, you will have to remove the steering linkage, alternator, starter, and oil dipstick. It would also be a good idea to remove the coolant temp sensor from the drivers side head so you don't snag and break it when you are sliding the header in.

I took the valve covers off and they dropped right in from the top. Keeps you from beating up the headers. Dipstick tube is a must and pull the plugs.

Def get WD-40 for removing the stock exhaust, and have long *** extentions to make it easy for the manifold to y-pipe bolts. Don't worry about snapping them either as the y-pipe will still slide right off.
Also, just buy new O2s if you haven't before, it's part of a tune-up anyways

Awesome, thanks for the replies. Yeah I have new 02's on my car so I'm gonna put my old ones back on for the coating to ruin them. Does the pacesetter Y pipe have an exhaust hanger or do I need to fab one up or is it even necessary?

It has a spot to use the stock hanger that mounts to the tailshaft of the transmission.
