Re: Over heating

Fill the radiator with both bleeders open, as the bleeders pass water close them and install the cap, crank the motor and allow it reach o/temp, starting with the rad. return bleeder, crack the bleeder and if the pump is pumping you sould get a steady stream of water after the air is released. If it doesnt stream after the air is released, I would check the coupling on the water pump , if it does move to the heater hose bleeder and do the same.

Get a small mirror and a flash light and you should be able to see it.

Out of curiosity you are using an Lt1 specific thermostat, right?

What temp are your fans kicking on at? Has anyone done anything with the fan wiring at any point? Are they rotating the right direction? I only ask because DC motors can run backwards. Just tossing it out there. I once got a third gen really cheap because someone had cut and reversed the fan leads, and couldn't figure out why the car kept boiling coolant. Just a thought..

Re: Over heating

I had this same problem a few months back. It turned out being a very small tear in the head gasket.

Re: Over heating

I would get a new thermostat and replace it. Be sure it is for the LT1. On my other cars its easy to test to make sure the coolant is flowing since the hoses will get hot if working correctly. Never checked my 94 Camaro to see if thats the case. I remember changing the thermostat and the gauge would go pretty high and way higher than normal. Then it would drop down and stay in the safe zone. Not sure what caused it, but I have seen it more than once.
