Overheated; how bad?

So today i was cruising and noticed my 'SES' light came on and notice the water temp pegged out. I look in my rearview and i'm dumping coolant everywhere. Park the car and fluid gushing from the overflow and cap. Long story short, the 10A fan fuse blew. Unsure why this happened, but when it did, my reverse lockout was enabled and could not get the car in reverse. It ran that hot for a few minutes, and i'm worried it may have warped heads or blew head gasket. Going to drain oil tomorrow to check for water in the oil. Has anyone had this happen before and motor still ok?

Re: Overheated; how bad?

I drove a little to far trying to get off the freeway and it appeared to be really bad. It ran rough for a few mintues and was perfectly fine after adding coolant. Every situation is different.

I've been thinking about it, and rather than stress too much, I might just put it on the spray and go big or go home. Also, going to sign up for AAA unlimited towing LOL, so i don't have to worry about getting stranded again.
