Overheating, whining under hood, no heat?

My 95z28 has a bad whining noise and is overheating, and my heater blows out only cold air. Anybody know what this is? Is my water pump going out?

if the heater core is bad, it would make a funny noise when your trying to use it, but i couldnt explain the overheating problem...

I think it is the water pump. But, not for sure. Tried starting the car and removing the rad. cap, and I don,t think its circulating.

if its truely coming from the engine bay i would vote water pump, otherwise i would say heater core and the whining would be comeing from your under the dash...

If you think about it, the water pump not working will cause the car to overheat. The coolant can't go through the heater core since it not circulating correctly and thus heater blows cold. The bad whining noise can be from the water pump being bad. Its looks like 3 strikes and your out in the garage changing it. I would not drive it at all if thats the case since you can cause serious damage to the motor. I know my 79z has a weep hole and will whine and drip coolant whens its going out. I assume the lt1's are the same.

Just be careful making sure it is leak free. I read a lot of threads where they had to redo it. That would really suck.
