Arrow Pacesetter Quality?

I am thinking of buying the Pacesetter Long Tubes and Y Pipe and just wanted an up to date opinion of these headers. I am really interested in how the coatings have been holding up, plug access, and fit. If the coating from the factory is not of good quality I will send them to Jet-Hot. I would like to purchase the Hooker tuned longtubes but my budget right now will not allow me. Thanks!!!

Re: Pacesetter Quality?

so far i have had two sets of the pacesetters (and no not because they are crap it was on two diff cars)
i reallly like them my first set was the coated and yes the coating left something to be desired but it was far from being bad
and i have also heard theyre coating has improved
the set i currently have i purchased non coated (attempted to paint with high temp header paint and the results were less than acceptable coating is already flaking)
anyway as far as quality of the header goes they are awesome especially for the price
my car has bmr lowering springs on it and i have more ground clearance issues with the subfram conecters than with the headers and y they tuck up really nice
the welds can get a little sloppy but i cleaned those up before i painted them
also they now come with copper gaskets at least mine from summit did and that was a pleasent surprise

Re: Pacesetter Quality?

Pacesetters make a very good budget header. With that being said, I have had my Pacesetter coated headers for a year now. I drive my car once or twice a month for roughly 6-7 months out of the year. It never sees rain or snow. The coating on the headers had already began rusting after a few months. Also, the EGR fitting on the header would not clear the tranny dipstick which makes me wonder if these headers were ever designed around an automatic tranny platform. I had to take the header back out and heat the fitting and bend it to clear the tranny dipstick. Also, the gaskets they supply are crap and they also give you a wire/crimp kit to extend your 02 harnesses. I would just buy plug-n-play 02 harness extensions instead of cutting and splicing your factory harnesses. Also, the metal that the headers is made of just seems very thin and flimsy. If I ever wacked something really good on the road, I have no doubts that it would puncture the header rather easily.

I guess they finally chimed in and realized everyone thought the gaskets they supplied were crap and ended up in the bottom of the garbage can. Now if only they can include some locking header bolts as well.. hint hint.

I bought my car with the pacesetter mid-length (uncoated) headers a year ago last month and they had been on the car for a year before then driven in rain shine sleet and snow and not a spot of rust on them. they worked great for me, although this thread is about longtubes...

I like mine... fitment is a real issue as they try to give you as much ground clearance as possible but they are REALLY close to the floorpan.

Good quality for the money, but ground clearence and banging on the floorboards were a real problem.

Mine came with copper gaskets that seam to be pretty good, too...

BTW mine was shipped out in May not sure when they started using the copper gaskets...
