Parts required for cam swap
#16
When you throw out the water pump, y-pipe(by the way...do not purchase...waste of money), clutch, headers, and catback you reduce it.....but not as much as you think. Still around $2500. You can squeak by without the injectors too....but look at the list closely......does it make sense to not get a timing set? How bout valve springs? My point is that the little things will add up quickly.

Been there and done that with used valvetrain parts....just never works out for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it did for you. The parts I've received in the past have always had damage or wear.

I ran brand new pushrods, 1.6 rockers, and valve springs
I'd never trust used valve springs personally, but the cam looked good and was dirt cheap so I figured why not
I didn't go ***** to the wall on parts but they work for my application since I have a fairly mild cam, there isn't much room for growth with my parts tho.

When you cutout the extra stuff on the Excel list you get down to about $1,000 for just strictly a cam swap. Shopping around will save you some extra dough too.
It's a "budget" setup, mind you, but it is all upgraded parts in the end.
