Pdd PCM question..........

Ok when I first bought my '94 Formula, the cooling fans would not come on. EVER. So I have driven it with the Air pump fuse pulled, leaving it in limp mode, in turn having the fans on all the time. I took it to the shop. They made the initial discovery of the coolant sensor on the water pump was bad. They replaced that but with the fuse back in place the fans would still not come on. They spent another 3 hours on my car (making me wait )
They then came out and said my PCM was fawked up somewhere. The sh!tty dealer I bought my car from had tried to wire up the fans to the fuse box which didn't work. The shops theory is that shorted out something in the PCM. I would have thought since that happened the car would not run at all. But it does, its been running great, again with the Air pump fuse pulled. This was all back in Jan.

So guys is it possible for the PCM to be slightly messed up in one place but the rest of it work fine?? Like i said the shop spent a LONG tme trying to find out WTF was going on.

I want my car to run the way its supposed to and I hate the SES LIGHT!!!!

O yeah forgot to mention, the tech that was working on my car told the guy at the front desk that the PCM was reading the temps from the sensor, but was not kicking the fans on.

I would think it is surely possible for the drivers for the fans to be bad in the pcm. You can probably pick up a used pcm and have any programming (if needed) done to it for not a lot of money.

Was the coolant getting above the level required for fan operation with a stock PCM.... 225degF for the first fan, and 236degF for the second fan?

Yes. The car would overheat, steaming and all.

If you're interested in trying another pcm, I have several in stock and ready to ship. If it turns out it's not the pcm, you could just return it back and I'll refund you your money minus $10 which I charge for the pcm exchange service....
