Pistons, Left and Right

On single SBC/LT1 pistons they are listed as right and left. I'm looking for a #4 piston, and I believe I am looking for a left piston.. is that correct?

I'm thinking that it goes #8 left #6 right #4 left #2 right.

Can someone confirm?

Thanks

1, 3, 5, 7 from the front on the drivers side and 2, 4, 6, 8 on the passengers.

LOL Thanks for the reply but this is exactly why I couldn't get an answer through any searches! I just keep pulling up that same info

I understand which side of the engine the pistons are on that's not what I am asking. My question is in regards to valve reliefs and what makes a piston a right or left since you've got two different pistons on each side of the engine. One pair of them, the intake valve relief is on the left, the other pair the intake valve relief is on the right. I need to know if #4 is a "left" piston or a "right" piston.

Sorry this wasn't clear, hopefully it is now.

The valve reliefs in stock LT1 pistons are symmetric and equal. Left and right (all) pistons are the same.

Your question has been answered. Stock or aftermarket, it doesn't matter. Think about it.

While that is true of some pistons, it does matter for what I am looking for. As I stated, I need to replace the #4 in a full set of pistons. They are sold individually and are listed as right or left, two different part numbers. They are not all the same pistons.

you'd be better off calling the company and discussing to be sure you are sent the right part.

at this point that's the plan.... but I wasn't going to bother the tech line if I could just get a quick confirmation here.

Okay, for anyone else out there that may run across this, my initial thoughts were correct #4 is a Left piston.

haha unless one was replacing a single piston (like you)....I guess we'd normally get 4 of each! Glad you got it answered..
