Please help...fixed opti now it overheats.

Well i took it to the dealer and they fixed my misfire problem which took away my "SES" light. It was a wire that routed wrong and it hit my exaust manifold. They said the fans are working fine. They said the same thing that PHILCAM01 said about the drive being put back in. They said its either that or a bad water pump. It sucks spending all the money for a new opti and doing all that work but now at least i know that i shouldn't have to worry about the opti going out on me.

This may sound stupid, but is the temp sender on the water pump pluged in and working properly?? The gauge uses a sender on the drivers side of the block and the ecm uses the sender on the water pump to turn on the fans. I have the resistence values for the pump mounted sender at various temps if you need it.
Good luck

usually if you have SES light.. the fans will turn on. a really easy way to see if your fans are working is to unhood your MAF sensor. the car will still run as long as you unhook it before starting the car and the fans SHOULD come on.

Well i took off the waterpump back off the sleeve was there. So i checked everything again and decided to replace the waterpump and thermostat. I also checked to see if the coolent sensor was working on the waterpump and from my test it seemed okay. I did all the work and it didn't seem to overheat. The temp got pretty high though. Almost 3/4 the way but went back down. So i was all happy because after 2 months from when i bought the car and $1,400 later i was actually gonna be able to drive it. I told my friend i was gonna drive it to work tomarrow and right when i get into my driveway. My damn "SES" light comes back on. I hate this damn car so much. Also it sounds like something is rattleing around in my tranny. But when i press in the clutch the noise goes away. What do you think it can be? My throwout bearing? I just put in a slp clutch and it didn't make that noise before.
