I think if you just keep things clean, not immaculate but the very best you can you will not have any problems.
I just put a E303 cam in my mustang and it has over 140k on the clock.. All is good, in fact I could still see cross hatching in the cylindar walls and no ridge in the bores.. so maybe it has something to do with how you keep the motor up too

Re: Poll! Did you Spin a Bearing after your Cam Install?
I'd like to know when you spun a bearing what all parts were destroyed. I am thinking of a head and cam package at 125,000miles i change oil regularly--some tell me too early and always use synthethics. I am un sure how it was done before i got the car, but I bought it from a 26 year old who had a couple sport-bikes...so i figure he took good care of it. I just want to know what parts i risk to ruin if i do end up spinning a bearing. So what all got destroyed in your spun bearing incidents????

Re: Poll! Did you Spin a Bearing after your Cam Install?
Had the CC305 in for about 20,000 miles. I have had the CC306 in for about 5,000 miles. I drive it during the summer every day 20+ miles each way to work in traffic, plus going out at night. I also made about 40 1/4mile passes with the 306 this year in 4 trips to the track which is 200 miles away. I don't have a trailer so I drove the car to the track. Plus all the "unsanctioned racing"

Re: Poll! Did you Spin a Bearing after your Cam Install?
I have 150,000 miles now and put the cam in at 130,000 miles. Haven't had any problems yet. And I absolutely abuse the hell out of my car. Shift at 6400 rpm's very frequently. I've always ran mobil 1 and when I had the engine apart for the heads/cam swap everything looked new inside showing no wear at all.

Re: Poll! Did you Spin a Bearing after your Cam Install?
There's two main issues here (not including dumb mistakes like not using any assembly lube... ), one of which being cleanliness, the other being the condition of the bearings before the swap. If dirt gets in there, it might spin a bearing. If the bearings and cam had a set wear pattern that doesn't conform to the flat surface of the new cam, it'll spin. Things to consider before doing a swap would be what kind of place the swap will be done (shop, garage, outside... ) and the maintenance record of the engine. Even though I use Mobil One on my car and change it every 3k miles or so, I have serious doubts as to what the previous owner did to it, so no cam swaps for me.
