Port the LT1 intake...Yes or No?

Port the LT1 intake...Yes or No?
My engine is near all bolt-on making 301 RWHP. I have a new set of LE2 heads and the LE1.5 camshaft that will go in soon. I currently have a 52mm throttle body.
My rev limiter will max out at 6300 RPM to help ensure the shortblock lives a long life.
Here is my dilemma. Many of you guys say to port the intake while others say dont bother unless you are turning 6500 RPM+ and have well over 400RWHP. The cost of porting will be around $200.00 but I want to make sure the money is well spent. If I stand to gain 5 RWHP I say it aint worth it, I have heard some people claim 20 RWHP which I simply do not believe.
The intake I have is a 1994 LT1 intake with the square port openings. I was told that the 95 and later intakes have the funky tapered openings. Maybe this should factor into the decision, maybe not.
Please help me decide.
Thanks

$200? That's a drop in the bucket! I had AI do mine with the heads because for $200 I know that I couldn't do it as well or as cheaply. There aren't many choices for intake manifolds like there are heads so why not get the most out of it? If it added 5 hp/tq then I would say that it's worth it since stuff like headers cost about $1000 or more to do and add about 25-30 hp and torque.

Where you buying your headers from? The only header install that is going to run you 1k or more is if they are stainless or your buying an extra set to hang on your wall.
Ive been involed in three header installs, two on my car, one on my brothers.
None of them were over $600, this includes headers, y pipe, wires, and plugs. Two of those installs include coated longtubes.

I would get the intake ported while you have the car apart (or before you put it back together).... every bit of HP helps. I ported my own intake (opened it up for the TB and gasket matched the ports) before I powdercoated it.

Re: Port the LT1 intake...Yes or No?
my opinion is,if you had the heads portmatched you should definately have the intake match!the factory design (matching up)to the mating surfaces are not clean like they are in the Ls1.you may not gain alot but it would be done and you will know the restriction between the mating surface is clean(no overlapping)......200.00 for porting the intake is worth it to me,some spend the same on a shifter that provides no real gain in ET..
