Possible head damage need advice

Here is a pic of some damage to the head. It seems to be about .002 inches in depth. I took some 2000 grit sandpaper and tried to clean it up but as you can see it is still damaged. It rides right over the metal portion of the head gasket.

Should I have the machine shop resurface this since they gave it to me this way or not to worry?

Yes - that needs to be surfaced.

machine shop gave you the head this way,,, is that after they resurfaced????

I agree with the advice of resurfacing that imperfection, it could seal but I predict a shorter life before popping a leak because of that

Too much chance of a potential leak. I'd have them fix that, if I were you.

I agree, better to fix it now than have a problem later.
