post any tip for LT1 owners

i thought it would be nice to post random tips about maintenance or anything else with these lt1's. we can help other lt1 owners out. i will get it started:

clean fuel filters help fuel economy and permance
thread lock works great for sealing drain bolts on the rearend and tranny
don't rely on a jack to hold a car up in the air

Dont race LS1s... kidding.

If your going to change your spark plugs. Put the car on stands and drop the exhaust. Your knuckles will thank you later.

When taking out a manual transmission, make sure the clutch fork has been pulled out, and start the actual removal by removing the transmission from the bell-housing, then remove the bell housing from the engine.

Could you elaborate on this topic please?

When I changed the fluid for my T56, I replaced it with Mobil 1 synthetic fluid. What brand would you reccomend?

Never underestimate the power of beer to persuade people to help you on any of your car projects

the T56 uses a dexron fluid like the automatics, do not use standard gear oil
when working in your cars engine bay do as much as possible at one time to save yourself the hassle of having to get into the VERY tight working conditions more than once
