If you have ram air couldnt you mount the coils in the space where the factory air box goes, or if you have relocated the battery to the rear that spot might be good enough. Or if you have done both, just divide the coils up . I know that the wires might be a tad bit long, but hey just a thought.

Thanx for the ideas guys. I was leary of mounting them under the cowl above the headers for fear of damage due to heat. Is this an issue at all?

I would think that not having them in direct contact with a hot engine and having an airgap between them and the source of the heat could only help.

The wires are a set of MSD 8.5's with the correct ends for the LS1 coils. Its not a stock set.
I've driven in the pouring rain with no problems.
The biggest drawback to that location is on a blower setup. If the belt comes off, it takes out the coil wires. Happened to a buddy of mine running the same setup.

Why don't you just mount them on your MBA covers? I have mine mounted like that. I can email you some pics if you would like. It does get a little tight around the FPR though, but no real problem as long as you make it neat and take your time placing everything. Let me know....John
