Potential Hydro-Lock need Help!!
First guys thanks for looking at my thread..any and all help would be greatly appreciated because I'm new to the v8 scene and struggling a lil I'm used to turboing Honda's anyway picked up a 97 z28 (30th annv thats trashed) that had an overheating issues (after we traced the no crank issue to ignition switch) so we pulled the motor..put a used lt1 off in it, got everything together and 3 opti-sparks later she fires, I'm thinking yes we r good..NOT SO MUCH..decent idle albeit high at about 1800rpm figured vacuum lines could be an issue no biggie go to bleed cooling system and just as we crack the bleeder valve open everything just stopped...I mean like dead stop no stumble nor hesitation...we stood there dumb founded like really???? um ok, so we go to start her again nada you hear the starter trying to turn but nothing. We researched and of course found out about hydro locking so here I'm am asking the wisdom of fellow lt1'ers what our options are based on the info above...r we screwed? this is/was going to be a daily driver with no means of other transport so minimal downtime is critical..its been down a month as it is and I'm really not feeling like another motor pull..

Re: Potential Hydro-Lock need Help!!
all 3 stock 1 came on the non running motor when we bought the car 1 we bought after the first motor overheated badly as back up (blown head gasket) the 3rd came with the craigslist motor, first we put the known working on one the motor off craigslist took the original off no go then the backup we bought no go and of course we put the original one back on bingo...again rookie mistakes but hey the opti-spark is as irritable as my fiance..lol
