Angry problem?????

I was took an off ramp off of I-295 earlier tonight and i heard a very loud metal sounding squeal/grinding noise coming from the rearend as I went around the ramp. The sound started when I started to turn and ended when I straightened out. I was only going around 45 mph, and was not braking when I heard it. What the heck could it be? I have no idea please help
Thanks for any ideas you might have.

I'm not sure about your problem, but I'm off of exit 20 on 295. About 10 minutes from you.

I think your hearing your tranny mount breaking... Try accelerating hard and see if it still occurs.

Thanks for the suggestion Rodrigues, I only hear it when I'm turning though, I've broke the tranny mount before too, so I'm pretty sure its not that. It squeals like when the brake pads are going bad, but like 10 times louder. I know its not the pads though, because I just replaced them 3 months ago. What the heck could this be... Thanks again Rodrigues.

Is there any way to check to see if it is the bearings? I don't really know too much about the rears in these cars, but I'm tryin to learn. If it is the bearings, can I just grease em up, or do I hafta replace them? How?

Thanks Hyperspeed97z28 for the suggestion.

I just installed the 3.73's last summer and used fully synthetic fluid in the rear. Should I still change the fluid even though its not that old, or do you think its probably the bearings causing this sound? Thanks!

Dont worry dude, its just the POS c-clip rear. It allows the axle to float out a couple of tenths and the rotor will contact the the caliper bracket. My car does the same crap when in hard cornering. Actually my stock 2.73 rear seemed to do it more. Hmmm, nothing to worry about, save your money for a better rear in the future. Just my opinion~~~rob

I have this same problem too. I was on the ramp getting on the freeway doing a turn driving about 40 mph and it started sqeeling. I thought it was the brakes, but im not so sure now...this started last night. Well, I noticed it last night because i had my windows down. damn all these problems

Was this while making left hand turns? I had the same thing and was checking brakes. Pulled on the axle and it just came out. Seems the C-clip is missing and some of the gears in the very center are chewed up. Does anyone know what the springs are in the center of the diff.
