Post Problems at WOT.

I drive a 1995 Z28 A4 Vert. When I go to WOT from a stop or low speed (under 25MPH) my car seems to lug in the low RPM ranges. When the car reaches around 3500 to 4000 RPMs it seems to pull better and rev quicker. When I first rev the engine and when it lugs down a type of hazey blackish/ grayish smoke comes out of my exhaust. The car seems to have no problems if I take off from a roll at a decent speed. The guy who owned the car before me upgraded the injectors in a basically stock car. Also I noticed my coil looks a little dirty as well.

I'm gussing the engine is loading up with to much fuel and cannot burn it off when I go to WOT and is lugging the engine down and is blowing the smoke the out the pipes. I was wondering if I could get some opinions on what might be wrong, thanks for the help.

LOL! Oh my god! Dude,.....your coil is "a little dirty"? That coil is spent man. Thats all corrosion buildup. You're staring the problem right in the face. You've got **** for spark down low until you build up some engine speed because theres so much resistance in your contact on the coil. You're going to need a new coil and coil wire at the very least. I would be willing to bet a whole wireset would help you tremendously. You might wanna do a whole tune-up with plugs too. Damn,....thats too funny,....."a little dirty" he says.

If you have some larger injectors without any reprogramming to compensate, that might not be helping in the efficiency department, either.

Yeah, I would say spark is having a tough time overcoming that corrosion.

Ok here is a dumb question? Where could I fid some coils online besides Accel coils. Thunderracing seems to carry every coil made but I would get stick paying shipping and sale tax. Also the same question applies to where can I find a coil wire and how hard will it be to run it. I should have changed everything when I had the damn warer pump out.

Re: Problems at WOT.

Get one at your local parts house. You don't need an aftermarket unless you are pushing more than 500HP/NA to the tires.
I have customers that are running the GM coil with over 600N/A FWHP.
A blower and NO is different. Then you need a coil and a MSD box or something like it.

I figured I would go MSD since their the same price as a stock replacement (Borg Warner and AC Delco both cost around 40, about the same as the MSD coil).

Man it looks like your coil was taken out in 95 when the car was new, and buried under groud for 10 years, replace that thing! Also your transmission might need freshened up a bit. Good luck.
