Project Heads/Cam 236/242 is complete, its ALIVE and Running!!!
#38
Since I finally have an internet connection that works, I am now able to give some more driveability results. When we initially got the car running, we had an oil leak somewhere up front, but I wasnt able to locate it exactly. I thought it was the dipstick tube, but after I put RTV around it and drove the car, it was dry but there was still oil coming out. I then put the car back up on the lift in the garage, and look over the front of the motor to find it. I checked all the pan bolts, and when I got to the very front one on the passenger side, I noticed that it was not tight. I turned the ratchet 3 or 4 full turns before it was tight. Once this was done, the engine never leaked anymore oil. Since then, I have been driving the hell out of the car. I think I have probably put at least 350-400 miles on the car since tuesday, and everything is great. Yesterday I drove about 160 miles, alot of them were stop and go in town, and no problems at all. It has had several WOT blast, but the tranny doesnt want to shift it. It slips pretty bad at the 6200 shift point right now. If you go 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, it shifts nice and hard, but WOT brings lots of slippage. In the next few weeks, I hopefully will be doing an FLP level 4 4L60E. I hopefully can scrounge up the extra money, as I want to race the car this year.
As for the sound file, I have not been able to download LS1_03's file due to some computer problems. I really dont need to download it anyway because all I have to do is go out and start the car up. The open headers sounded very nice, but very very loud. I sounds alot tamer with the flubbermaster hooked up. I am going to be getting rid of the flowmaster hopefully next weekend when I come home from school.
Trey,
I sent you an email regarding some stuff.
Right now, I dont know when I will getting the car on the dyno to get it tuned, but hopefully in the next 3 weeks at least.
