Pulley/Damper Question

I bought a ATI Damper and a March pulley kit not realizing that I couldnt use the crank pulley that came with the March kit. My question is now can I still use the alternator pulley that came with it or will that send my ATI damper off balance?

You can still use the alternator pulley. The pulley will not affect the ATI dampening or the balance.

Will I gain the same hp by just using the alternator pulley and not the March kit?

Which March kit did you buy? They make two different kits, one has an OVERDRIVE alternator pulley, for cars that have high power amps and things. If you have that kit, using only the alternator pulley would actually increase HP loss slightly. Then they make another set with and UNDERDRIVE alternator pulley for maximum HP savings. With that alternator pulley only, you might see some very tiny HP gain, but not worth measuring. I still use the U/D alternator pulley from my ASP set with the ATI superdamper, but only because I figure I don't really need the alternator spinning all that fast with a 7,200rpm redline.

Main point.... there is very little to be gained with a FULL underdrive pulley set. All you are doing is slowing down the alternator, PS pump, idler pulley and the rotating part of the AC clutch. None of these things presents a large load when you are WOT at max RPM, going in a straight line. The dyno test on ws6.com got less than 1HP gain for a sandwich type U/D pulley. Simply slowing down ONLY the alternator with a U/D pulley is not going to save anything measurable.
