Put the 93Z on scanner, need some info

My friend has a 93 Z auto, 3.73's w/ 120,xxx miles on it. Some bolt ons, headers, CAI, pulleys and a ed wright tune.(he bought the car like that. we put the headers on it though. The car smokes but not untill halfway through second gear, then it stops when it hits 3rd. at the track, 1/8 mile, it doesn't smoke untill 1/2 track. I put the scanner on it last week, snap on MT2500, it had a quad driver code, 23 or 28 i think. BLM's where 128@WOT. I have no idea what I am looking at. The 02's where switching, it had 40 degree's of timing at WOT, and the EGR kept doing something strange but I can't remember what now. You could look at the quad drivers and see one of them wasn't working like the others where. What in the hell does a quad driver do? thanks for any input.

well
code 23 = IAT SENSOR (Low Temperature indicated)
code 28 = Transmission Range (check the transmission range control circuit) if its an auto which you said it was

but i dont think those are your problems! sounds to me like hes blowing oil past the rings! thats a lot of miles for a V8.. i would run a compression test on each cyl and see how that comes out! the only other thing it could be is code 23 so check your IAT sensor and see how that is but still that shouldt cause the smoke! i think the rings are worn

BTW your blms will always read 128 when at WOT cause the computer doesnt use them in WOT

The "quad driver" is an outboard module in the ECM that is used to drive the high current loads like solenoids. The 93 codes seem to correspond roughly to the 94/95 codes, with 26 for the EEC solenoid, 27 for the EGR solenoid, etc.
