Putting in a hotcam

Ive decided to came my 96 formula car since the intake/waterpump has to come off anyways. (doing headgasket and electric water pump since both blew out). Ive decided on the LT4 hotcam because Its gonna be a daily driver and needs to get some descent mpg. I already have 1.6 gmpp rr's ,lt4 springs, lt4 locks/retainers. Do I need hardened pushrods? Are the above parts good enough? Any tips for the cam install?

Shoebox has a good cam install tutorial on his website.

No, you do not need hardened pushrods and the parts that you have are great considering that it is basically the whole rest of the hotcam kit besides the cam. The whole combo works well together.

Oh yeah I do remember that tutorial I read it about 2 years go. Thanks I will look it up. Is it "safer" to run hardenedpushrods or just not required?

Re: Putting in a hotcam

Since the GMPP roller rockers are self aligning, you do not require hardened pushrods as you would with non-self-aligning because of the guideplate wear. Hardened pushrods would be better, but really aren't necessary for the mods that you have done.
