Putting Long Tubes on a 93 LT1, Quick ?.

Do I need O2 extensions for Jet Hot Long Tubes? Or will the stock harness for the O2s reach?

Thanks!

I extended the stock wire myself, people recommended getting the heated o2's for the LT's but my car ran fine without them

Did you just splice in a wire?
What guage wire would you suggest I use If I decide to try this?

Yeah, you can splice into the wire. A good rule of thumb is to use one guage large than the wire you are splicing into. Example - if you find that the O2 wires are 16g, use a 14g wire to splice into them. Remember to solder your connections and use shrink tubing to protect it. I have also heard that you should cut the stock harness, that goes from the ECM to the connector, and NOT the wires on the O2 itself? Why? I don't know, but I hear it a lot. Me? I bought O2 extensions, because I felt it would be cleaner, just MHO.

While 14 gauge might be better, 16 gauge works I spliced into my O2 sensor wires (not the factory wiring harness) on my 94Z with 14 gauge a couple years ago and so far so good. Also just did this last weekend on the 96SS and again, no problems.

I have Hooker Long tubes and spliced in 6" wires for one and 13" wires for the other.

You'll either need extensions, or will have to splice. Stock wont reach

I too spliced the O2 sensors themselves, be damned if I am going to cut into the harness.
I used Bosch O2s and it has been all good so far.
