Quest for 11's with bolt-ons, runs into a wall..

I took the car to the track last night after have running a best of 12.94 @ 104.60 MPH with a 1.81 60 foot time. So heres is what transpired from that run until last night.

I lost 100 LBS on my race weight, gained 15 RWHP and 19 RWTQ, Added BMR Boxed SFC's, Tubular LCA's, Relocating Brackets, Driveshaft Loop. V6 Springs and a TransGo Shift Kit. Also dropped my 18" wheels and went with 15 X 3.5 skinnies up front and 15 x 8 E.T. Streets with all Weld DRaglights. So my thinking.... maybe 12.7xx's possible a 12.6xx.. Should be able to loose .25 off my E.T. I thought.

Outcome at the track... No better than a 13.13 and no worse than a 13.22. Alot more consistant but what the heck. Any thoughts? Here are 2 time slips from last night.

What will 5 MPH on your trap speed do? Take a look at 2 times slips...
SLIP #1

60 foot 1.777
1/8 mile E.T 8.333
1/8 mile MPH 82.01
1/4 mile E.T. 13.157
1/4 mile MPH 98.61

SLIP #2

60 foot 1.793
1/8 mile E.T. 8.357
1/8 mile MPH 81.98
1/4 mile E.T. 13.137
1/4 mile MPH 103.37

Now the first one was during bracket racing and I had dialed in a 13.06 and the other guy dialed in a 12.23. I was so far ahead of him it was pitiful, and I had to let off at the 1000 foot mark and coast to the line. He ended up running a 12.627.

Now my question is would have ran a better E.T. if I had not let up on the gas and gained my other 5 MPH? Or would it not have made a difference?

By the way here is a time slip from before all the mods I did:
This was my second best run:

60 foot 1.769
1/8 mile E.T. 8.232
1/8 mile MPH 82.31
1/4 mile E.T. 12.989
1/4 mile MPH 103.81

So why am I about .15 off? Probably just the weather? it was about 15 degrees warmer. It was around 50-60 last night.

Check out my 60 foot times on the last one. 1.769 on stock suspension and Nitto 555r's with 18" wheels up front. Then I went and spent $1600 on suspension and Drag wheels only to run worse and run a 1.777 60 foot time. Kinda sucks huh!

If the humidity was up, that would really kill your ET's. I am not sure if the 15's would hurt your trap speed..

did you read in the drag racing section about the guy who did run 11s with bolt-ons? he had a link to his total list of mods.

boxed subframes was kind of a bad idea since they are so heavy IMO. also what did you do to gain 15 rwhp??

Even if boxed subframes were 100 pounds it would not account for .177, and they are nowhere near that heavy anyway

I got rid of the Hooker Y-Pipe that was attached to my Shorty Headers. I changed over to a 3" Flowmaster Y- Collector. I had the 2 1/4 inch Exhaust pipe running from there to my 3" cut-out and swapped out to fill 3" Exhaust to my cut-out. Got it on the dyno and did a little tuning using my LT1 Edit and ran 2 times and got almost the same numbers.

I was still going to get the Accel 300+ Ignition, BMR Adjustable Torque Arm, Moroso Front Trick Springs and Hal Shocks with some Drag shocks for the rear. I was hoping to have the car around a 12.4-12.5 by then but not sure. The mods were going great, went from the first bone stock 100,000 mile run at 14.62 and now im in the 12's at 112,000 miles.

Yeah, I have seen Franks car going in the 11's with bolt-ons. Might have to take a trip up to Louisiana and make some runs

At this rate I could have thrown a stoker in for the same amout of money and been there by now. Maybe
I will just say **** it and throw a NX 100 shot wet kit on instead. At least I will be in the 11's then...

Well whats going on with my suspension then? Im running no better than I was when I had 100% stock suspension and drag radials. I was hoping to cut 60 foot times alot closer to a 1.700 than those 1.77-1.81 times Im getting. I do have a drag air bag that was installed but got a hole so I have to replace it. I really didnt feel much of a sqaut just to the right though. It felt like it was leaving hard. I also let my friend drive it so I could watch. It looked like it wasnt having any problems geting up in the front and transfering the weight.

So what gives?

i realize that but for someone trying to run 11s with a bolt-on LT1... he should try to cut as much weight as possible.

The strength of the Boxed over the Tubular is worth the 1.6 lbs of weight extra. Even with all those items I was still able to reduce the weight by an even 100 LBS from last time at the track.

Thats with even 1/2 tank of gas. I have not got serious into weight reduction. Only have taken out the rear seats and belts long with the front sway bar, tire jack and spare tire.

I was just hoping for a better out come than what happened. Does anyne have any ideas about my time slips? It could have been a little more humid last night, but really didnt feel like it. I really dont think that had anything much to do with it.

What about this maybe....
The 12.94 was before the track got their IHRA sanction? Maybe something was wrong with the times? I doubt it. I also ran a 13.22 up in Ennis for SLp Day last month. In a 25 mile an hour head win and poor 60 foot times. That was also with out all those new items I did.

Confused about going slower and not knocking any time off my 60 foot
