I've had my first car which is a 96 z28 for about 3 weeks, I have noticed that when you accelerate the gas arrow all of a sudden goes down dramatically, the when you slow down or drive slow for awhile the arrow recovers.

Is that normal??

It's fine, not normal but fine. one of your sensors is out in the tank. my TA's fuel gauge indicates wrong, its off by about 1/4 of a tank, then it corrects when it gets to E, so its just the sensors inside from rust, and shat.
