I am probably wrong and going to get smashed but. No F-body LT1 had 325 HP the few 97 LT4's had 330 HP.

Later LS1 SSs are rated at 325hp... don't know of any LT1s w/that factory rating... I think the highest LT1 factory rating was 310hp in the '97 SS

It is the LS1 SS and WS6 cars that have 325 HP. No LT1 powered Camaro or Firebird ever did. Even the LT1 vettes weren't rated that high. I'm pretty sure the 96-97 SS and WS6 were 300 or 305 HP. As stated earlier the highest powered gen II small block in an F-body was the LT4. It had 330, and could only be found in 100 97 30th anniversary SS cars and 100 97 firehawks. Needless to say they're hard to find. On the plus side, it should be fairly easy to get 325 HP at the crank from an LT1.

Don't get all mesmerized(sp?) by an SS as far as power goes. There's nothing touching engine oil in an SS's LT1 that differs from an LT1 in an Z28, which is what really makes the power.

The only real "difference" is the ram-air intake combined with (insert SLP exhaust option here) that adds the extra power. Unless you've *gotta* have an SS hood and spoiler, go with a Z28. Chances are you'll spend less time hunting for a car and also save a couple bucks

Good luck! Let us know when you get your car!

PS -- quick question as long as we're on this topic... did SLP offer shorties as a showroom option?

The earlier SLP LT1 Firehawks were rated at 315hp...they even had that 315 HP decal on the Ram-Air hood.

Now that i think about it... i remember that the NEW SS's have 325 hp... i wonder why this dude is tellin me why this LT1 has 325!?! I am plannin on buying this engine off of ranchochevy.com and the dude said "has 325 hp, and everything needed to get it in your car and working!" But i also asked about an 1989 IROC-Z 350 TPI, (the L98 i believe?) in the same email as the LT1 and he didnt specify which engine had this power rating... just assumed it would be the LT1.

The actual LT1 motors were pretty much all the same. The difference in power rating almost always came from exhaust and induction differances.

The only differences were exhaust and induction? what did they change in induction for diff. LT1's?

93 lt1s were speed density, 94-97 were all MAF.
