with those of you who drive 3.73's on automatic trannys. will it hurt your vehicle if you drive long distances weekly. what could happen. will the same happen with 3.42's. any help would be appreciated. how much time off the 1/4 mile should i expect with 3.73's and transgo shift kit or 3.42's with shift kit

Ok I went from 2.73s to 3.42s.

I do NOT have a shift kit.

A couple of notes:

#1 When using LT1 Edit to change the gear in the PCM, it will also change the coverter lockup program as well. In my case, the converter would lock at 36 mph instead of 45 mph.

#2 Watch out for WOT shifting, both up and down. My first time at the track, my car bounced off the limiter in 2nd before shifting into 3rd.

Now, I cannot speak about the HPP3 and how it does it's programming.

My car went from 14.299 to 14.016 (bouncing off the limiter before shifting to 3rd) with just gears. My 60' went from 2.1x to 2.03 as well.

Also, on the highway, my car cruises at about 2200 RPM at 70MPH. Certainly not bad. 3.73s would run about 2400 RPM at the same speed.

I went from 20 MPG with 2.73s to 18.5 MPG with 3.42s.
