Questions about Z28
Hey guys. How much do you think I can get a used 93-97 for? The used car price guides I have looked at average $4K for retail on a 1993 going up about a grand each year to $8K for a 97. The used ones I have seen recently seem VERY over priced, saw a 1995 with about 60K miles for like $11K, whats up with that?
Also, how does the LT1 respond to mods? I know the 275 hp is underrated but can you get it up close to 350 hp? and if so, how much money would that run and what kind of parts do I need to look for? Thanks.

hell you could get the HP WAY past 350 to the wheels man...the LT1 is a mod *****...it loves mods from a cold air intake to a cam and heads...
350 rwhp is relatively easy to get to with full exhaust, heads/cam...

You can do a lot better on price than that. Here is todays listing on autotrader.com for our area of Virginia for camaros less than 10000.

There are plenty of them around. Don't jump on the first one you see. Be sure to test it real well before you buy.
Understand the quirks before you get one. Plenty of people will tell you about the optical distributor and the well known air pockets in the cooling system. Also know what is required to trouble shoot and repair one. For example, you're dead in the water without a scanner or access to one.
Mods a plenty can do what you want at a price better than moding a rice burner.
Good luck and enjoy the search. Nothing beats buying a car.
And welcome to the board. It's always nice to see new people here.

It all depends on who you buy from. I just got mine a month ago from a guy who turned out to be a lawyer. I picked it up for $4300, the guy just wanted to get rid of it he wasnt too worried about the money. When I got home I checked kbb.com and the car turned out to be worth around $7300. Theres some things to look for in this thread when looking at used car. Good luck! http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=281389

Thanks for the Autotrader link. Just from a quick look, I think its going to be pretty damn difficult for me to get what I want. I want a manual not an auto and I need a dealer so I can finance. I found 1 manual in the first 3 pages but it was from a private dealer.
If I absolutley had to take an auto, how are they? Is it a big drop in power or can the auto hold its own?

I dont' think that there is too much difference between the auto and the M6....the only thing is the 4L60E isn't that great of a tranny....i'm on my third one and i have 274 to the wheels...which is like 318 or something like that at the crank....i mean i got this one done right but once you get into the high HP i hear of a lot of people having probs with it....i might be wrong though....some people are running 10's on 10 bolt rears....and the same with the trannys
