Quick fan question

Kind of a strange question but say you unplug the fan connectors and use a test light to check for power, will they show power with the key to accessory or with the engine running? Or do they have to be plugged in and in a complete system to show power through the wires?

pretty sure they dont have to be pluged in but the car needs to be running with the AC one, that should make the fans turn on.

Check shoebox's web site for fan diagnosis

I tried it with the engine running and neither wire on each connector showed power. I dont have ac anymore so will it have the same effect if I still turned the ac **** on?
I've looked at the diagrams but honestly i'm retarded when it comes to wiring

if the ac is gone i duno.

What is the problem? Fans not turnning on?

If you just want to make sure the fans are working then put 12v to the fan and see if it turns on.

Search here for fan relay, their is a way to test the relay

You won't see power at the fan connector unless the fans are commanded on (fan relay(s) energized. If the a/c is removed, I don't think the PCM will tell the fans to come on when the mode switch is set to a/c.

There is an easy way to jumper the fan(s) on for test in the relay socket. Your sig says 1993, so I will go by that.
Pull primary fan relay and jumper from D1 to D4. That should turn on the primary fan.

Pull secondary fan relay and jumper from F1 to F4. That should turn on the secondary fan.

The reason for asking is I got a set of spal pusher fans and I was trying to find out the hot wires for both connectors so I could wire up the new fans. its a 97 btw.

90% sure the black one is negative and the other one (White is it?) is posative.

I don't have a 1997 schematic, but if the same as 1996, black is negative and white positive for the RH fan and gray negative and light blue positive for the LH fan.

I guess I looked at the wrong sig, sorry.
