Quick Knock sensor Q.

Does anyone know if say, the wiring at the knock sensor itself became disconnected, and caused the computer to go into full timing retard, would that throw an engine light?

I'm trying to figure out why my car is not as strong as it should be, i'm hoping it has something to do with the knock sensor (false knock too). I'm waiting for the weather to get nice before i can look at it.

Re: Quick Knock sensor Q.

If the wire falls off you will get DTC 43. The PCM will retard timing, based on RPM and MAP. Not sure if the SES light accompanies that code, but I would guess it does.

Add a "signature" with info about your car so you don't have to remember to add it every time you post.

Re: Quick Knock sensor Q.

DTC 43 does cause the SES to come on and loss of performance will result.
