Quick question about my rocker adjustment

I just adjusted my rockers and everything is much quieter now, but I was wondering just how tight each polylock will feel when setting the preload. I turned 1/2 turn past zero lash like the instructions said. Should it be a tight feel as I'm setting preload or is it really easy to turn the preload?

I'm just asking because I've never set it before and I don't have the feel for it. I'm hoping the rockers aren't too tight now as opposed to too losse before.

Thanks

It depends on what rockers/polylocks you are using. But, some lifters will be pretty soft doing preload, and some may be a bit firmer.

Mine were somewhat hard to set preload and it had me a little suspicious. It kinda idles rough right now, but everything is quieter. So I'm thinking they are too tight. I think I will take advantage of my little "lack of oil in the valvetrain" situation and adjust one more time while engine is running.

If you are doing it right, the feel of the poly lock has nothing to do with it.

Yeah I figured something was up with them. At least now it will be easier to single out each rocker and adjust instead of having them all tapping like before.

poly lock and pre-load are two different things. the lock just keeps the rocker nut from coming loose. some of mine were pretty easy when setting preload. i was doing it with a warm engine though so that might make a difference. when your putting the lock on just make sure the rocker nut doesnt move so have a wrench on it when tightening and you should be good to go

I shouldn't have said "polylock". I guess I just meant the nut was kinda hard to tighten.
