Ran out of fuel, now hard to start.

The other day I was out in the Camaro and I ran out of gas. The gauge was reading 1/4 of a tank and I was on my way to get gas as I dont like to run one that low. I put some gas in it and drove to the nearest station and filled it up. I have since noticed that instead of the 2 revolutions it used to take to fire right up it takes about 8-10. It runs fine after that. I doesnt matter if I just shut it off or sits over night it still takes 8-10 turn overs to start. Didnt what would cause a hard start after running out of gas.

If you think it might be related to running low, check the fuel pressure. Or might be something else that is coincidental.

Possibly the fuel filter.

The fuel keeps the fuel pump cool but if there is no gas it may cause some problems.I like timnfxr 's idea of changing the fuel filter as it may have sucked up some bad stuff.Hope this helps.

If you check the fuel pressure, you will know if the filter is a possible cause and you won't have changed it out for nothing. Then, again, the filter is a commonly neglected item and may need replacement, anyway.
