Ran out of Gas
#2
Replace your fuel pump Running out of gas is the most efficient way to burn your fuel pump.
To troubleshoot before replacing, check fuel pressure at the schraeder valve to make sure it's even building up enough pressure. You might be hearing the relay click and think you're hearing the pump. Seriously, the gas that's in the fuel tank is what keeps your fuel pump cool - running out of gas effectively burns the pump right up. You never want the gas tank to get below 1/4th tank or you'll risk allowing the fuel pump to overheat.

The fuel pump relay is under a cover on the drivers floor. You don't hear the relay when listening at the tank...
The fuel cools the pump so it's important not to run the tank empty. However, there is no real need to keep a 1/4 tank of fuel in there...just don't run out.
Check the pressure after priming the pump by turning the key on and waiting without cranking the engine. The pumpwill run for a few seconds. If you don't get pressure then the pumpis likely shot....

True, but the click will be under your foot and the pump is in the back. Even an old guy like me should be able to tell wher the noise is coming from....lol
