rear main seal

when my mechanic was replacing my clutch i had him go over the car and i was told that the rear main seal is leaking oil all over the place i was wondering if this is a normal thing on a car with over 100k

It's not unheard of. When I have a clutch replaced, I usually replace the slave cylinder, the rearmain, and the flywheel bolts. Maybe I'm a little over cautious or just have too much money or something, who knows?

Unusual for a seal to leak after 100k miles? I would say no.

Fairly common.....have the seal replaced. A new felpro seal only cost $18(same as the GM BTW) and can be installed in a few mins , so he shouldnt rape you on this.

thanks for the feed back guys it was something that i didnt expect you know i go in for a clutch and have to spend more money than i thought thank god it wasnt that expensive
