If you're looking for a core block, there was a decent guy out of Tennessee selling them for cheap. $200 on Ebay. A buddy bought one for his 383 and it turned out great!

With a stroker, not only will you be getting HP but also tons of torque. The cast crank should handle up to 550 HP at the flywheel (RWHP depends on A/T versus M/T). Always upgrade the pistons to forged and rods are stout if you go with the H-Beams. That way you can always play with boost or juice later if you want. Some say you can go up to 600 HP at the fly but that would be the limit...

Yea, I've been talking back and fourth with Frank at Gofaststuff. The kits shown on web site are externally balanced the kits for the LT1 are internally balanced they start at 899.00 and the kit I'm prolly goin with is 1149.00 ( forged pistons). I do want to stay pump gas so I'm thinking 5.7 rods with flat top pistons. Block will get decked also but prolly not much. Heads will most likely be ported LT1 castings. I just am stuck now on a cam and if I'll need some bigger valves to utilize it. Any suggestions? I don't wanna be spinnin it to 7000rpm or nothin with a cast crank but my goal is 500 flywheel hp with loads of TQ.

Sounds like you're on the right track. You'll get some good performance with what you have in mind. There are some good threads here on cam choice. Remember it is the Dynamic Compression Ratio that gives the power, not just the Static Compression Ratio. Many have had good success with a CC502 cam in your set up. A good port job would do wonders... perhaps a slight increase in valve size but there hasn't been much improvement with larger valves and seats... somewhat overkill.
Deck the block a bit... 0.015. Use Impala head gaskets at 0.029. You'll be good to go. (Disclaimer - I do not have my notes at this computer but I believe that is the correct thickness for the Impala head gaskets). Ideally, you'll want your quench to be 0.035-0.045.

Well thanks!! I have you to thank for the help. I haven't even heard of the CC502 so I'll be checkin into it for sure. Do you think if I went with the 6.0 rods it would be to much for pump gas? Also what clutch is the best to hold all this?
