rebuilding stock lt1

I'm looking to do a rebuild on the bottom end and put a LE2 head/cam package on it. For the bottom end has anyone had experience with the sealed power rebuild kits from summit racing. The kits seems to have everything at a pretty good price. Is that the way to go?

Re: rebuilding stock lt1

I just had that kit put in my car along w/ new crank, ARP Main, rod, and head bolts.

Have about 450 miles on it and so it is running really strong.

If your on a budget I would definately recommend the kit. With parts and labor it was just under $1,000. I did the R&R myself.

Re: rebuilding stock lt1

if you don't want the downtime, you could easily get a used lt1 block for a few hundred bucks and get this kit. Good budget setup with no down time.

Does anyone think it would be safe to shift at 6600-6700 RPMs regularly with this kit?

I don't see why not as long as the rest of the motor can support those rpm's.

I've heard of people spinning that on a stock motor many times with no problem, but there is always a chance that something could go wrong no matter what motor running.
