Rebuilt engine, after about a 15 minute ride engine stays reved at times.

Last night I was driving my rebuilt engine, and when I would go to press in on the clutch the engine would stay reved. When I came to a complete stop I would have to put the car into a higher gear and tap on the clutch to get the revs to come back down. If anyone needs to know I seperated the engine and transmission apart then of course hooked them back together after the engine rebuilt(Not sure if something could have gone wrong there). I also added a 306 cam with an LE1 port job. Thanks for any help.

Do you have a tune for it?Could be a faulty IAC valve.Thats my guess.

I agree with the above plus I'd check for a sticking throttle cable.

Engine type would be helpful but nonetheless, idle most always requires some tweaking when significant breathing modifications are made to these modern engines. I would imagine that a search would return much information on the subject.

I did get it tuned by pcmforless, but I will not blame them, because just before I rebuilt my engine I remember it just starting to do this. Also it seems it starts doing it about after 10-15 minutes of driving. It doesn't do it right away. Also I hear yall say it could be a faulty IAC, does that mean I need to clean it or replace it?

Shoebox has a test for it on his tech page.If it passes that it may just be dirty.
