Replacing front seal, do i need to replace the water pump?

I've got an oil leak coming from the front of my block. I've narrowed it down to the area around the top of the front seal. so i got a full front seal kit. I figured i'd replace the timing chain while I'm at it. One of my buddies told me to replace the water pump while i'm at it. I'm looking at replacements and its more than i was expecting, plus the electric pumps are more.

Is it really that important or is it relative easy to replace the pump later?

you have to remove the air pump to get to one of the bolts on the water pump besides that its relatively easy. IDK Im changing the WP on my ride as I am changing the OPTI out. I just like to fix what I can while I have stuff apart so I don't get stuck on the side of the road, besides the humility its pretty expensive.

Actually I'm just rebuilding mine. I found a kit from waterpumpguy on ebay for the replacement parts, pretty simple rebuild with minimal tools. Let me know I can give you his email if there isn't one listed he will put one up.

-Oh and it was just over 60 bucks shipped

Somebody on here posted that he had also replaced the water pump drive seal on the timing cover and noticed it did not have a drain hole between the inside of the cover and the seal lip allowing oil to build up and run down the front. Said after drilling all is good.
