Replacing Opti-Spark, Cap & Rotor - Advice?

After all the drama with my car we tore it apart and it ended up being the Opti-Spark. Since the MSD Pro-Billet isn't avaliable until late this month or sometime in February, and I'm paying a car payment and all that I want to get it running. So I want to throw the 96-97 Vented Opti in, along with an MSD Cap and Rotor. My question is, if I get the Vented Opti, will I have to buy the Cap and Rotor that works with the 96-97 or the Cap and Rotor that works with the 93-95's?

Also, where is the best play to get the Vented style opti pretty cheap, I'm not going to pay 500 bucks for the GM Vented one directly from them.

I've got 83k miles on my stock '97 opti.. I hardly think the expensive is worth it on the MFD stuff.

If you didnt know, you can not just put on a vented style opti on a 93. You will also have to change the timeing cover. If you do a little searching you can find a complete parts list of what is needed. I got 120K miles out of my stocker, and the only reason I put a new one on is because everything else on the motor was new. But the stocker was still kicking. I have no trouble out of the new non-vented that is on there now. I would not get the MSD cap and rotor kit. I would either put a stock replacement on or what for the complete MSD unit.

Just curious, but if you dont have a new opti on yet, How do you know that the opti is the problem?

You're joking right? How about a link?[aka proof]
They are more like 500 bux..

Also, to go from unvented to vented opti you need to change the cam [among other things], not exactly simple.. you can't just 'throw it on'..

Ah yes.. I didn't even see that his car was a 93 when i posted...

Yah, it's not a quick job by any means.. might as well tear it down and throw an xe224/230 in there
